Where they split
Editors and the lab disagree on whether it is the best; stills and video at 10x are read differently.
Is it the best camera phone?
Both put it at or near the top, the second naming it first among the phones that reviewer has handled this year.
Against that: The lab scored it 171 and its page lists the phone third when read, where early coverage reported second.
Our readA reviewer's best is a judgement about range and fit; a lab ranks on its own test.
How good is 10x zoom?
Finds zoom solid at 10x.
Against that: Describes 10x video as worse than the previous generation, soft by day and noisy by night.
Both trueStills and video may differ, and no source we read compares them.
Who it's for, who should pass
For a telephoto and low-light buyer the case is strong; for 10x video or dim-light ultrawide it is weaker.
It suits you if
- You are choosing mainly for a telephoto and low-light camera. All six editorial reviews and the lab test single out the telephoto.

- You mostly shoot 10x video or ultrawide in dim light.Three editorial reviews fault the ultrawide, and the comments page faults long-zoom video.
- You want a camera that tops every ranking. The lab places it behind another phone.
The verdict
A strong editorial case for the telephoto, with thin owner evidence since launch.
Six editorial reviews and one lab agree on the telephoto and low light; the doubts are long zoom, visible processing and the ultrawide, and nothing we could read shows how owners find the camera months on.

The review as text
The vivo X300 Pro, on sale in India since its 2 December 2025 launch, was welcomed at launch as a camera phone. This piece holds those launch-era camera reviews against what was published after. We read 11 sources on 17 October 2026: six editorial reviews dated 3 November 2025 to 23 February 2026, one lab test, two news pieces, the maker's page and one page of owner comments from launch week. No buyer platform page was read.
Two pages that rank the phone, from 91mobiles and Croma, could not be opened (HTTP 403) and are not counted. The owner tier is thin. The one comments page we could read dates from the days after the first review, so no owner source here describes months of use.
Consensus
Across the reviews we read, the telephoto camera is the standout. All six editorial reviews single it out, and so does DXOMARK's lab test. The maker's page lists a 200MP periscope telephoto, which is the maker's claim and not a result.
Five of the six editorial reviews also report strong low-light results: GSMArena, FoneArena, The Week, Outlook Business and Amateur Photographer. Five of six praise natural colour or portrait rendering: FoneArena, The Week, Cashify, Outlook Business and Amateur Photographer. The lab test says the same of skin tones.
We read this as a strong editorial consensus on the telephoto and a mixed one on everything else. Confidence is strong among editors and thin elsewhere. The reading covers the camera as reviewed between November 2025 and February 2026.
Recurring strengths
The telephoto is praised in all six editorial reviews. GSMArena singles out its low-light and macro results. FoneArena reports improved zoom and macro. Outlook Business, writing after about two months of use on 29 January 2026, found telephoto shots sharp and quick. The maker lists the camera hardware as a 200MP telephoto at f/2.67, a 50MP main camera at f/1.57 and a 50MP ultrawide at f/2.0. Those are the maker's claims.
DXOMARK scored the camera 171 overall, 171 for photo and 169 for video on 31 December 2025. Its sub-scores are 180 for bokeh, 170 for telephoto and 141 for ultrawide. A lab score describes that lab's test and says nothing about how the phone is to live with.
Five of six editorial reviews report strong low light. Five of six praise colour or portraits. One reviewer, GSMArena, praises the selfie camera, and one, The Week, praises video up to 4K at 120 frames a second. Those are individual opinions.
Recurring complaints
The ultrawide is the lens most often placed second. Three of the six editorial reviews, Cashify, Outlook Business and Amateur Photographer, put it behind the main camera, in low light or overall. DXOMARK's ultrawide sub-score is the lowest of the three it lists.
Visible processing is raised by two of six editorial reviews. The Week reports that AI features cannot be switched off at the default focal lengths, and Amateur Photographer reports heavy AI upscaling beyond 10x. DXOMARK says unnatural detail can show in low-light photos. The owner comments page, as we read it, leans toward processing and oversharpening.
Long zoom losing quality is raised by two of six editorial reviews: FoneArena says quality falls at higher zoom levels, and Amateur Photographer points at the upscaling past 10x. Dim-light video is raised by one editorial review, GSMArena, which finds it short of rivals, and by the comments page, which describes noisy night video.
Two more are single opinions. Cashify finds that HDR sometimes oversaturates skin tones indoors. Outlook Business finds subject separation inconsistent in some telephoto shots and expects a software update could fix it. We found no source saying whether one did.
No source we read counts how many owners see any of this, so how common these complaints are among owners is unknown. A count of complaints is not a defect rate.
Where reviewers split
The first split is whether it is the best. Two editorial reviews, The Week and Amateur Photographer, put it at or near the top, the second naming it first among the phones that reviewer has handled this year. DXOMARK's lab test scored it 171 and its page lists the phone third on the day we read it, where early coverage reported second. Our read: a reviewer's best is a judgement about range and fit, and a lab ranks on its own test.
The second split is 10x zoom. The Week finds zoom solid at 10x. The comments page describes 10x video as worse than the previous generation, with soft, shaky frames by day and noise by night. These may be different questions, stills against video, and no source we read compares them directly.
The third is change over time. Every editorial review predates the June 2026 trial updates. The Tech Outlook reported on 10 July 2026 that vivo withdrew those updates for the X300 and X300 Pro after reports of battery drain, heat and network problems. That report says nothing about the camera, and we could read no camera update notes from the maker. No review is marked as superseded, and none can be marked as current.
Who it suits
You are choosing mainly for a telephoto and low-light camera. All six editorial reviews and the lab test point the same way.
You are happy to adjust camera settings and check results. One review describes a feature-rich camera app, and the comments page mentions settings that reduce sharpening.
Who should pass
You mostly shoot 10x video or ultrawide in dim light. Three editorial reviews fault the ultrawide, and the comments page faults long-zoom video.
You want a camera that tops every ranking. The lab places it behind another phone.
