MethodOn 27 October 2026 we read 4 editorial reviews from 21 April to 28 July 2025, JBL's product page and one retailer's price listing, by web search and plain page fetch, and synthesised them with AI; we collected no buyer reviews and tested nothing.
Dates without a year are 2026.
The review as text
The subject is the JBL Tune Beam 2 true wireless earbuds as sold in India, and the date read is 27 October 2026. We read four Indian editorial reviews published between 21 April and 28 July 2025, JBL's product page for the model and one retailer's price listing.
The owner and buyer tiers are thin. JBL India's own pages and several owner-facing pages returned errors, so no owner thread and no buyer review was read, and the maker's figures below come from JBL's Vietnam page for the same model. Every count below is out of the four editorial reviews.
Consensus
Across the reviews we read, the Tune Beam 2 is a budget pair that wins on battery and app features and gives ground on noise cancelling. All four editorial reviews praise its battery and its app. Three of the four say its noise cancelling falls short of flagship pairs, and three note that it has no wear detection, so music does not pause when a bud comes out.
Confidence is thin. Four reviews is a small sample, they were published between 21 April and 28 July 2025, which is 15 to 18 months before the date read, and they disagree on noise cancelling and on call quality. We read the repeated complaints as a mid-range noise canceller and missing extras rather than faults, but that reading rests on editors alone.
Recurring strengths
Battery is the strength all four editorial reviews share. JBL claims up to 10 hours per charge with noise cancelling on and up to 12 hours with it off, and up to 48 hours in total with the case and noise cancelling off. Those are the maker's claims. Fone Arena reports about 11 hours in mixed use with noise cancelling on, at moderate volume. Business Today reports 10 to 12 hours per charge with three refills from the case. Outlook Business and t2ONLINE list the 10 and 12 hour figures among the strengths.
The companion app is praised in all four editorial reviews, for its equaliser presets and its personalised hearing profile. Three of the four, Business Today, Outlook Business and t2ONLINE, call the fit comfortable. All four list the IP54 dust and splash rating, which JBL says covers the earbuds only.
Recurring complaints
No complaint we read concerns safety.
Noise cancelling is the lead complaint, in three of the four editorial reviews. Fone Arena calls it adequate for everyday sound but not flagship tier. Business Today calls it adequate for transit and cafes and not flagship-level. Outlook Business says it lags the OnePlus Buds 4. The fourth review, t2ONLINE, is positive about it. No source we read says how many owners agree, so how common the complaint is among owners is unknown.
The missing wear detection comes second, in three of the four: Fone Arena, Outlook Business and t2ONLINE each list the lack of automatic play and pause. Business Today does not mention it. Two of the four, Outlook Business and t2ONLINE, list the absence of hi-res Bluetooth codecs as a drawback, and Fone Arena records that only SBC and AAC are supported.
Two of the four, Outlook Business and t2ONLINE, describe weaker calls: Outlook Business finds call quality drops in loud places, and t2ONLINE finds the microphone output slightly artificial. Two of the four, Business Today and Outlook Business, say the bass-forward tuning may not suit every listener, and Outlook Business adds that it needs equaliser changes.
Some complaints come from one reviewer each. Fone Arena found occasional connection problems that needed re-pairing. Outlook Business found the case slippery. t2ONLINE lists no wireless charging and no pairing button on the case. Business Today lists only two drawbacks, the noise cancelling and the bass tuning. These are individual opinions, not recurring themes.
Where reviewers split
Noise cancelling. t2ONLINE finds steady background sound handled well, without a feeling of pressure in the ear. The other three place it below flagship pairs. We read these as compatible: good on steady sound, short of the best pairs.
Calls. Fone Arena found wind and traffic noise well suppressed outdoors and the voice clear in busy places. Outlook Business and t2ONLINE found them weaker.
Bass. Fone Arena lists the bass-forward sound as a strength. Business Today and Outlook Business say it may need adjusting to taste.
Price. The reviews give two prices. t2ONLINE and Fone Arena give Rs 5,499, and Business Today and Outlook Business give Rs 5,999. The Reliance Digital listing read on 27 October 2026 shows Rs 4,999 and an MRP of Rs 11,999, which is the listing's own figure. We do not judge that gap.
Who it suits
- You want long battery life from a budget pair: all four editorial reviews praise it.
- You like to shape the sound in an app: all four praise the app.
- Your listening is mostly steady noise such as transit or a cafe: t2ONLINE finds it handled well and Business Today finds it adequate there.
Who should pass
- You want noise cancelling that matches a flagship pair: three of four editorial reviews say it does not.
- You want music to pause on its own when you take a bud out: three of four note that it cannot.
- You take many calls in loud places: two of four describe weaker calls, and one found them clear.
- You want hi-res Bluetooth codecs: two of four list their absence as a drawback.
